Thoughtful picture books that help young children explore consent, boundaries, feelings, kindness and belonging.

Written in Orange, NSW · For ages 2–7 · Created for homes and classrooms

Picture books for little hands.

Mindful Kin brings together thoughtful Australian children’s books that help families explore feelings, consent, personal boundaries, kindness and belonging.

Our name reflects why we exist: to help children grow with greater awareness of themselves and care for the people around them.

Created for real family life, our stories give parents, carers and teachers a gentle way to begin meaningful conversations about the big things little people experience.

Written by Australian children’s author Oleta Blunt, each picture book uses warm storytelling and age-appropriate language to help children feel safe, seen and understood, from bedtime and classroom reading to the quiet moments in between.

The mum behind Mindful Kin

Hi, I’m Oleta Blunt, an Australian Children’s Author, mum of three and the founder of Mindful Kin.

I create thoughtful picture books to help children understand their feelings, trust their bodies, express their boundaries and find their place in the world. Each story is inspired by the conversations families have every day, including the big ones we sometimes struggle to begin.

Mindful Kin grew from a simple belief: when children have words for what they feel and need, they can move through life feeling safer, more confident and deeply understood.
